Peacock Restaurant
Located in the stunning Yuunan region, renowned for its awe-inspiring landscapes rich in history and mythology, the Peacock Restaurant captures the essence of its surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the region’s iconic peacock bird, the restaurant’s design reflects Yunnanese themes through landscape, colours, and textures, creating a vibrant and dynamic dining experience.
The vision was to create a dynamic restaurant with sophisticated dining options within adaptable and flexible spaces. The primary challenge was to transform an existing industrial building, with its two dilapidated levels and separate entries, into a unified and cohesive restaurant.
To unify the spaces, a central atrium was created, featuring a sculptural staircase rising from a landscaped bed, with a peacock sentinel perched elegantly on a stainless steel stand. This became the focal point of the restaurant, enhancing its unique character.
The kitchen, located on the first floor, allows for an even distribution of patrons across both levels, providing greater flexibility for peak and off-peak dining.
The ground floor offers intimate banquette spaces with lower ceilings, while the upper floor features expansive spaces with exposed trusses, creating a distinct dining atmosphere that includes an exquisite glass box private dining room.
Robust industrial materials were used in elegant ways, paying homage to the building’s industrial past while elevating the overall dining ambiance.
