This medical spa project for Kiora presented a unique design challenge: creating a serene, therapeutic environment within a rectangular building that suffered from limited natural light, with windows only at the front and back of the structure.
Our approach focused on transforming this inherently dark space into a luminous sanctuary where Kiora’s patients could experience true relaxation during their treatments. The cornerstone of our design solution was the introduction of a centralised skylight that runs along the main corridor, infusing the heart of the facility with abundant natural daylight.
This architectural intervention dramatically altered the interior experience, creating a bright, welcoming pathway that connects all treatment areas while eliminating the closed-in feeling typical of many medical facilities. The diffused daylight from above establishes the calm, uplifting atmosphere that has become signature to the Kiora experience, supporting the healing and rejuvenating nature of their spa treatments.
For the individual treatment rooms, we designed high-positioned windows that serve a dual purpose. These thoughtfully placed openings allow natural light to cascade into each of Kiora’s spa spaces, enhancing the therapeutic environment while maintaining complete privacy for clients during their treatments. The result is a series of tranquil retreats where light and privacy coexist harmoniously.
The finished design successfully transforms what could have been a clinical, artificially lit environment into Kiora’s naturally illuminated oasis of calm, where the healing power of natural light becomes an integral part of the wellness experience itself.
